Updated: Saturday, 31 October 2026. Gospel music fills churches, buses and homes across Ghana every day, yet it hardly appears on the country’s big music charts. That is why GhanaSongs.com runs a separate weekly chart for it. This week, a Twi gospel hip hop track credited to Pastor Kwame Acheampong leads the list, with Florence Obinim and Minister GUC close behind.

Here are the top 10 gospel songs in Ghana this week, ranked by how often people in Ghana are looking them up on Shazam, with each song’s YouTube views alongside.

Top 10 gospel songs in Ghana this week

  1. Pastor Kwame Acheampong – Twi Gospel Afro Hip Hop (Shazam Ghana #11 · YouTube: 299,535 views since 15 September)
  2. Florence Obinim – Osoro Ne Mefie (Shazam Ghana #64 · YouTube: 75,701 views on the official audio)

A Twi gospel hip hop track leads the chart

The number one gospel song in Ghana this week is “Twi Gospel Afro Hip Hop”, credited to Pastor Kwame Acheampong. It sits at number 11 on the full Shazam Ghana chart, which puts it ahead of many of the country’s secular hits. It is also a sign of how far gospel has moved from the church choir sound, with Twi lyrics now riding on hip hop and Afrobeats production.

Listeners should note that the artist’s YouTube channels are named “Ai Covers” and “Ai Music”, which suggests that at least some of his output is made with artificial intelligence. The song has still drawn 299,535 views on YouTube since it was uploaded on 15 September, and it is clearly reaching gospel listeners in Ghana.

Florence Obinim and Minister GUC complete the top three

Florence Obinim’s “Osoro Ne Mefie” is the second most searched gospel song in Ghana on Shazam this week, at number 64 on the full chart. The singer has spoken publicly about the meaning behind the lyrics. You can read more about her music in our posts on Florence Obinim – See You There and Florence Obinim – Susupre.

Nigeria’s Minister GUC is in third place with “Good God”, a collaboration with Sunmisola Agbebi. Its position shows that Ghanaian gospel listeners are open to worship music from across West Africa, not only songs from home.

Familiar names in worship music

The rest of the top 10 is full of names that Ghanaian churchgoers know well. Diana Hamilton’s “W’ate Manim (You Have Honoured Me)” is at number five, while Piesie Esther, whose worship songs have performed strongly on YouTube in the past, is at number nine with “Me Nte Ase”. Our post on her earlier release, Piesie Esther – Great Change (Nsesae Kese), covers more of her work.

Esther Smith appears twice. Her own song “Som No Yie” is at number 10, and the gospel group Team Eternity Ghana is at number eight with a live tribute performance in her name, which climbed 17 places on Shazam this week. Yaw Sarpong, Rev. Price Nyarko and Yefter Nkansah complete the list.

What YouTube tells us this week

Shazam shows what people are hearing around them. YouTube shows what they choose to play again and again, and for gospel music in Ghana, YouTube is where much of the listening happens. Looking at views per day since each official upload, three new releases stand out.

  • Diana Hamilton – W’ate Manim: 292,382 views in 15 days, about 19,500 a day since it was released on 16 October.
  • Team Eternity Ghana – Esther Smith Tribute 1: 108,599 views in six days, about 18,100 a day since 25 October.
  • Yefter Nkansah – Intense Worship Moment: 1.15 million views since 14 August, about 14,800 a day.

Minister GUC’s “Good God” remains the biggest song on this list on YouTube, with more than nine million views on the official video since December 2025. Older favourites such as Piesie Esther’s “Me Nti Ase” and Yaw Sarpong’s “Tenabea Foforo” also have millions of views built up over several years, which is why we use YouTube to add context rather than to set the order of the chart.

How we compile this chart

Gospel songs rarely reach the Apple Music or Audiomack top charts for Ghana, even when they are popular in churches and on radio. To measure what Ghanaian gospel listeners are actually looking for, this chart uses the Shazam Top 200 chart for Ghana, which counts how often people use Shazam to identify songs they hear around them.

We go through all 200 songs, keep only gospel and worship songs by artists whose work is clearly gospel, and rank them by their Shazam position. We leave out secular songs that only use religious words in their titles. Alongside each song we show its YouTube views, taken from the YouTube Data API on the day of the update and counted on the official upload from the artist’s own channel or the artist’s official “Topic” channel. Where we could not find an official upload, no YouTube figure is shown.
