Gyakie is returning to the stage. The award-winning singer has announced a comeback concert for Saturday, 12 December 2026, at Ghud Park in Accra, her first major show after a period away from live performances.

The announcement was reported by 3News on Wednesday, 28 October, and later carried by DailyGuide Network. According to the reports, the singer stepped back from the stage to concentrate on new music, and she sees the December show as a way to reconnect with her fans and thank them for standing with her throughout the break.

Midnight album took most of her time

Much of Gyakie’s time away has gone into her upcoming album, titled Midnight. She told 3News that the project demanded a lot of time and focus, which explains why fans have seen less of her on stage in recent months.

No release date for Midnight has been given yet. DailyGuide reports that the concert is expected to feature new material, which means fans in Accra could get a first live taste of the album before it is out. Gyakie has also promised a steady rollout of new songs, performances and exclusive content in the build-up to the show.

How she writes her songs

Speaking about her creative process, Gyakie said most of her songs begin with an instrumental. She sometimes listens to a beat for days before she finds the story she wants to tell on it. At other times the idea comes at once, and she recalled finishing one song in about 30 minutes.

She also spoke about the dance challenges that now follow many Afrobeats releases on social media. In her view, a song should invite people to join in, dance and have fun together, and she said she wants her music to bring that kind of joy.

On her single “Body”, she explained that the song comes from an appreciation of the human body, and from her reverence for God as the one who created it.

Still releasing music

Although she has been away from the stage, Gyakie has not gone quiet on the release front. Her most recent single, Your Body (Crazy), came out on 16 October with an official music video on her YouTube channel.

Gyakie, born Jackie Acheampong, is the daughter of highlife musician Nana Acheampong. She broke through in 2020 with “Forever”, and the remix featuring Nigeria’s Omah Lay took the song across Africa and beyond. Since then she has become one of the leading female voices in Ghanaian music, with a sound that blends Afrobeats and R&B.

What we know about the show so far

The concert is set for 12 December at Ghud Park, Accra. At the time of writing, ticket prices, the start time and the list of supporting acts had not been announced in the reports. GhanaSongs.com will update fans as soon as those details are made public.

For many fans, the December date gives them one more reason to look forward to the Christmas season in Accra. After months of waiting, they will see Gyakie back where she is at her best, on stage with a live crowd singing along.
