Kwaku DMC and Beeztrap KOTM turn to prayer on Lord’s Prayer, one of the most reflective tracks on their joint album Happy Place. The two Kumasi drill artistes set aside the swagger of the album’s harder records for a song about faith, protection and the streets they came from, and the emotional delivery has made it a fan favourite.
The production is moody and melodic, with soft keys over drill drums, and both artistes rap with unusual vulnerability. The official audio is on Kwaku DMC’s channel.

What Lord’s Prayer is about
Lord’s Prayer is a street prayer. Kwaku DMC and Beeztrap ask for protection from enemies, for provision for their families and for forgiveness for the things the streets made them do, and they do it in the plain Twi of men who grew up in Kumasi’s hard neighbourhoods. The hook borrows the shape of the prayer every Ghanaian child learns, and the verses add the detail of their own lives. It is deep street storytelling, and the emotional honesty is what makes it land.
A drill song that slows down
What makes Lord’s Prayer special is how far it moves from what Asakaa usually sounds like. The drums are still there, but they are pushed back, and the keys carry the song. Both rappers drop their usual guard. Kwaku DMC’s verse reads almost like a confession, and Beeztrap, who is normally the louder of the two, raps with real tenderness about family and the people he has lost along the way.
Street prayers have a long history in Ghanaian music, from hiplife songs that asked God for protection on the road to modern drill tracks that thank Him for survival. This one belongs to that line, and it shows that the Kumasi movement has room for faith as well as bravado. Many listeners who came to Happy Place for the hard records have singled this one out as the song that stayed with them longest.
