Ghana Gospel Classics playlist cover by Spotify – Ghana gospel mix 2026

If you want a Ghana gospel mix that plays non-stop with no DJ talking over the songs, Spotify’s own Ghana Gospel Classics playlist is one of the most complete options on the platform. Put together by Spotify’s editorial team, it brings 50 Ghanaian gospel songs into one place, most of them in Twi, from the generation of singers whose music filled church halls, outdoorings and tro-tro speakers long before streaming came to Ghana.

Who made this playlist

The playlist sits on Spotify’s official profile, not a fan account, and carries a one-line brief: “Hit rewind on these classic Ghanaian gospel songs.” Spotify lists it as an editorial playlist. Like several of the platform’s newer editorial lists, the running order can be personalised, so the first song on your phone may not be the first song on a friend’s.

Spotify has good reason to invest in the genre. In figures shared with MyJoyOnline, the streaming service said gospel streams in Ghana had grown by 329% compared with 2022, with young listeners most active at 7am and on Sundays.

Songs to look out for

Obaapa Christy appears more than anyone else, with five songs, including “W’ agye Me”, “Mema Meni So” and “Oko Yi”. Daughters of Glorious Jesus follow with four: “Wo Ntaban”, “Yesu Mo”, “Bebre” and “Twediampong Nyame”. The group told 3Music this year that they have been singing together for close to four decades, and “Wo Ntaban” alone runs past seven minutes.

The old guard is well represented. Hannah Marfo’s “Akristofoo Adooso”, Esther Smith’s “Me Da Wase” and “Nipa”, Patience Nyarko’s “Obi Nyanime” and Cecilia Marfo’s “Afurumuba” are the kind of songs a church choir can start without opening a hymn book. Cindy Thompson, Noble Nketsiah and Philipa Baafi each have three entries, with Philipa Baafi’s “Yesu Ne Me Last Stop” among the liveliest.

Newer names keep the list from feeling stuck in one era. Joe Mettle has three songs, “Ogya”, “Akokyem Nyame” and “Bo Noo Ni” with Luigi Maclean. Diana Hamilton, the 2021 VGMA Artiste of the Year, is here with “Mo Ne Yo”, while Nacee’s “E Be God” and KODA’s “Hosanna” sit alongside the veterans. The longest track is “Ghana Local Worship” by Denzel Prempeh, Naa Mercy, Calvis Hammond and Negar Wujanji, a medley of more than 16 minutes that works as a ready-made worship segment on its own.

How long it runs and when to play it

The playlist holds 50 tracks with a total running time of about four hours and 56 minutes. That is long enough to cover a Sunday morning from breakfast to church, a Saturday house clean, a thanksgiving gathering at home or the long road trip to your hometown for Christmas. The mood leans towards slow praise and mid-tempo worship rather than dance tracks, so it suits quiet mornings better than a party.

How to follow it

Press play in the player above, or open it in the Spotify app and tap the add button to save it to your library. On a free Spotify account, mobile playback may run in shuffle mode, which suits a playlist like this anyway.
